A Spanish Language Immersion Experience

While I’m finally back in my physical body, my spiritual body is still lingering in the Costa Rican rainforest. Its lush greenery and sunshine were hard to leave behind. Our resort, Sueño Azul was on 1200 private acres of rainforest, a true delight! Each room had French doors which opened to a welcoming veranda with awaiting rocking chairs where a daily ritual included watching the sunset.

My roommate and I were fortunate in that our room overlooked the small river tributary having a huge tree not 15 feet from our porch. The tree was home to many varieties of birds that became our natural wake up call at 4a.m. The chirping, cawing, and squawking of the native birds was like surround sound but we got so accustomed to it that when I came home the silence was disturbing.

We had a resident anteater who was, well ~ adorable! Dear little hummingbirds were darting around like flies in the air and the giant butterflies were all in Technicolor. All of nature had vibrant coloring, almost unreal to this city girl. We rode horses through the rainforest to waterfall cascades, took a river boat cruise, went into town to practice our Spanish, and hiked on a canopy rainforest tour where I petted a poisonous red tree frog! (Don’t worry, I’m still alive.) Learned the practice of Sound Yoga! (never did that before). Enjoyed the spa offerings, an intuitive massage, manicure, and the like. Ugh- why did I come home again?

Well, I'm back safe and sound in my "home-forest" with my own wildlife: Sage, Feather, MeowMeow and Noodles. Now back to my Spanish.
